This summer Dorking Schools Partnership andAshtead & Leatherhead Confederation, using Opportunity Funds, will support Mole Valley Housing Association in the Dreamscheme project. After successfully piloting the Dreamscheme in 2010, Mole Valley Housing Association will run an expanded program in 2011 covering Dorking and Leatherhead area.
What is the Dreamscheme? The Dreamscheme brings children and community together. Children and young people (7-16 years) undertake work projects such as painting, gardening, litter-picking and car washing, in their communities and are rewarded with points which can then be traded for trips in the final week.
Activities are also being run each week free for all children (5-16), whether they have been doing projects or not. The activities offered include climbing wall, creative arts, fun bus, Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) and Parkour (urban climbing, rolling and jumping). Over 60 projects and activities will be run over the course of 5 weeks during the summer holidays. More than 200 children will be offered the opportunity to participate in enjoyable projects to improve their neighbourhood and fun summer activities/workshops.
